With over a decade of experience composing music for media, Jonathan learned that the ability to create music is just the first requirement for scoring films, TV shows, video games and other media.

An equally important discipline is the ability to listen to the director's description of what they want to hear, translating that into written music and then refining that music throughout the production time with consistent communication between the composer, the director, and other audio professionals on the production team. 

Productions large and small are deeply collaborative by nature, so Jonathan considers that being a composer with the ability to listen as well as write is one of the most important skills he has developed over the years.

His musical influences and background span many different genres including several cinematic music influences from different eras of Hollywood, all western classical eras, jazz, several subgenres of rock, metal and most of its subgenres, atmospheric music, many kinds of European and North American folk music, experimental and Avant Garde, electronic and synth, noise, and hybrid genres as well .

He specializes in music for orchestra, 5 piece metal bands, choir, and sometimes a mix of all three.

From his early interest in music all the way to the point when he started writing it professionally, he keeps an unbridled energy and enthusiasm for the music he writes both professionally and privately.
